With the training finished in La Grande Motte, which has proved to be invaluable, the next big mission for all of us who have been in the south for the winter was to get our boats and ourselves back up the Atlantic coast for the forthcoming season…
Training in La Grande Motte
Another week ticked off in the cold south of France. This week was really hard work for me. My performance alternated from ok to average, as I just didn’t seem to get into the swing of things. The weather conditions were very difficult with one of the long offshore races taking place in nearly 40 knots of wind and bitterly cold temperatures.
Revved up for the next training session
When I arrived in La Grande Motte, I was hoping to have the left the freezing conditions of the UK behind but as the plane flew over Montpellier, and then off the coast and over the top of the training centre, it became very apparent that the conditions were virtually the same as at home - the beaches were white with 30cm of snow!...

I am just on the train now after finishing another fantastic week training down in La Grande Motte. We have had a very mixed week again, with plenty of sailing. Very varied conditions again from 0-30 knots, and very cold, something that was clearly not in the brochure!
