The Royal Ocean Racing Club confirmed this morning at 1100 BST that the IMOCA 60 Artemis Ocean Racing had claimed overall victory in the 2010 Sevenstar Round Britain and Ireland Race. “Whilst there are still yachts racing in the Sevenstar Round Britain and Ireland Race, the unusual easterly winds are hampering progress to the finish. There is no real possibility of a competing yacht eclipsing the corrected time set by Artemis Ocean Racing…”
Having crossed the Sevenstar Round Britain and Ireland Race finish line today (Monday 30th August) at 00h32’ 27’’ after 6 days 10 hours 32 minutes and 27 seconds at sea, Artemis Ocean Racing managed to break the IMOCA 60 course record at the end of an “epic day of full-on sailing”, as Jonny Malbon said upon setting foot ashore.
Organised by the Royal Ocean Racing Club, the IMOCA 60 ‘Artemis Ocean Racing’ will be competing in the Sevenstar Round Britain and Ireland Race starting on Monday, 23rd August. The 1,802-nautical mile race departs the Royal Yacht Squadron start line (Cowes,UK) at 1400 BST, racing anti-clockwise around Britain and Ireland…

Update from Jonny as he approaches Wolf Rock: "It's a bit wet and miserable but were making good speed and it's not so long until we get to Wolf Rock - happy to be moving along!
Jonny talks about his autopilot failure and hallucinating onboard, "...it was horrible - very difficult, the scariest thing for me from changing from genoa to the solent in big seas and 35knots - it was horrendous. I'm absolutely exhausted, but happy to be here - I haven't slept at all..."
Jonny explains his thoughts on Leg 1 : "I'm a lot more confident that last year and excited about the race - I just want to get going now. This leg is pretty long, lots of difficult corners with lots of tide, rocks and light winds. It's going to be a tough one..."
