Gareth, also known as nipper, is originally from South Africa and moved to Southampton 5 years ago to pursue his career in yachting by taking advantage of the exciting racing circuit in Europe.

Gareth has worked on numerous boats in and around the Solent, doing charters as well as skippering for amateur corporate events and regattas. He has also completed many deliveries, on boats such as Assa Abloy and ABN Amro 1.

Gareth is an accomplished sailor and joined the Artemis Ocean Racing Team before the Route du Rhum 2006. Prior to this, was crewing on Sojana, Peter Harrison's private, 115ft carbon racer cruiser. He has also competed in three transatlantic races onboard, including the Rolex North Atlantic Challenge. Gareth specialises in the maintenance of deck gear and rigging.
