CRAIG 'SCOTTIE' BOWIE - SAILS CO-ORDINATOR
Craig Bowie joined the Artemis Ocean Racing (AOR) team in July 2007 as the 'Sails Coordinator'. Craig's solid sailing experience will ensure he is an asset to the AOR team.
Craig, commonly known as 'Scottie’, has sailed over 60,000 ocean miles and has represented his country in many events which has seen him win World, European and National titles in sailing. He has been involved in professional sailing for 6 years, racing everything from Farr 40's, Canting Keel Maxi's, Maxi Multihulls, Orma 60s, and Mumm 30's on the Swan circuit.
Prior to joining the AOR team, Craig was an integral member of the design team for Guillermo Altadill's brand new Open 60, Estrella Damm which in August 2007, won the Artemis Challenge at Skandia Cowes Week. Craig was involved in the sail development team for Estrella Damm.
Craig has also worked on Ellen MacArthur's Maxi Trimaran known as 'B&Q', Super Maxi 'Alfa Romeo', and on various Open 60's such as Skandia, Hellomoto and Ecover. Craig is a very experienced sailor having raced in locations around the world including New Zealand, Australia, the USA, the Mediterranean and of course, in British waters.
Craig's specialises in sail making and sail development, and has 12 years of experience in the sail making industry. He has built sails for Olympic boats, Super Yachts and Grand Prix Race Boats, amongst others. To add another string to his bow, Craig was also part of the GBR Challenge
Craig studied Meteorology and Oceanography at the University of Glasgow and upon graduating some 8 years ago, moved to Southampton, UK.
