ROB DUDDEN - SHORE TEAM BOAT BUILDER
Rob joins the Artemis Ocean Racing (AOR) shore team to complete the race preparation of the new Open 60 AOR II for Jonny Malbon’s Artemis Transat and Vendee Globe campaign.
Rob has extensive experience as a boat builder, having worked in a variety of roles for the likes of Offshore Challenges Sailing Team, Ericsson Racing Team, Indiana Yachting and Green Marine, working on America’s Cup campaigns, the Volvo Ocean Race and Ellen MacArthur’s round the world record attempt among others.
Rob studied at Southampton Technical College for his City and Guilds qualification in yacht and boat building as well as gaining a boat building apprenticeship at Hythe Marine Services.
From 1993-1994 Rob crewed on the MV Loyalist responsible for the maintenance, day to day running and delivery crew of the 100ft motor yacht.
Whilst at Offshore Challenges, Rob worked in the construction and preparation of the new generation Open 60 in Cowes for the Offshore Challenges Sailing Team, responsible for the initial yard set up to build “in house”, supporting the Technical Director. Projects included the Trimaran Castorama / B&Q, the Open 60 ‘Kingfisher’ / Skandia, Figaro and Extreme 40 Multi hulls.
